MatchMove unveils MatchMove Academy and Scholarship Program as part of Talent Development initiative.

Singapore, 11 March 2020 - MatchMove, Singapore’s leading digital native Application Programming Interface (API) led ‘Banking-as-a-Service’ platform provider, today announced the set-up of the MatchMove FinTech Academy, to offer specialized training programs to students, professionals and the silver generation. The academy is part of MatchMove’s commitment to support the development of digital talent to enable a new level of cutting-edge innovation, to nurture a strong foundation for future FinTech talent, and to support Smart Nation initiatives towards a smarter economy in Singapore.

MatchMove is in process of finalizing with local institutions of higher learning to launch the FinTech Academy and Community to co-develop industry-relevant teaching and training curriculum materials, as well as to become a training partner. The initiative will also offer access to MatchMove as a real-world example and case study on offering ‘Banking-as-a-Service’ platform solutions at scale. In addition, MatchMove will work with local universities and polytechnics to organise regular speaker series to drive FinTech awareness and inclusion in Singapore.

As part of their holistic capability development initiative, MatchMove is already conducting corporate training for their staff to facilitate upskilling and reskilling in FinTech solutions. These training programs will be extended to their existing and new partners in topics related to compliance, information security, Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) as well as technology capabilities, delivered through a number of blended, experiential, bite-size learning tools. MatchMove announces Platinum Sponsorship for PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon 2020 MatchMove is also proud to announce that it will be a platinum sponsor for the upcoming PolyFinTech 100 API Hackathon 2020 kicking off on the 11th of March 2020. This hackathon is only a small step towards that goal.”

As part of the sponsorship, MatchMove will provide dedicated subject matter experts as mentors to the participating teams as well as offer MatchMove as a ‘testbed platform’ to run pilots and Proof-of-Concepts for relevant ideas. The firm will also extend internship opportunities to select participants to further develop and operationalize their ideas, gain experience on the job training as well as deepen their knowledge base in the field of Information Security, Data Sciences, Integrated Digital Communications, UX/UI Design and Payments. MatchMove has always been very supportive in offering internships each year to local university and polytechnic students, including PolyFinTech.

The average FinTech firm in Singapore employs 10.8 employees with the largest components being in Software and Application Development, whilst Sales, Marketing and Business Development, having 43 per cent and 22 per cent respectively. Extrapolating survey results and applying industry estimates of 600-900 FinTech firms operating in Singapore, the industry as a whole, employs roughly 6,500-10,000 employees in total.

“We are amazed at how our local universities are producing top quality talent. To reaffirm our commitment towards promoting tech talent, we will soon be introducing the ‘MatchMove Digital Entrepreneurial & Innovation Scholarship’ for promising students in local institutions of higher education to further their digital ambitions,” said Nicole Poon, SVP Partnerships.
