Salmon, a leading fintech innovator advancing financial inclusion across Southeast Asia, has launched its Salmon Access Card in partnership with Asia United Bank (AUB) and MatchMove.
Manila, Philippines, December 16, 2024 – Salmon, a leading fintech innovator advancing financial inclusion across Southeast Asia, has launched its Salmon Access Card in partnership with Asia United Bank (AUB) and MatchMove.
The Salmon Access Card is a prepaid card linked directly to Salmon Credit, Salmon’s revolving credit facility. The card enables customers to access their credit in a more convenient and widely accepted format. Previously, customers could only pay through QR Ph or transfer funds to e-wallets or bank accounts. With the Salmon Access Card, they now have a versatile physical payment option that can be used globally at any merchant that accepts Mastercard.
The Salmon Access Card is available to new Salmon Credit clients in six SM Store locations in Metro Manila: Mall of Asia, Makati, Megamall, Manila, Fairview, and North Edsa. Approved clients can receive the card on the spot and link it to their Salmon app by scanning a QR code.
Salmon plans to expand the availability of Salmon Access Card nationwide, introduce online application channels for even greater accessibility, and offer the card to existing Salmon Credit customers.
Raffy Montemayor, co-founder of Salmon and chairman of its bank subsidiary, highlighted the significance of the offering: “While digital payments such as QR Ph are convenient, there are times when customers need something more tangible. Some merchants prefer card payments over QR Ph codes. The Salmon Access Card gives our customers more options, enhancing their shopping experience with greater convenience and flexibility. The Salmon Access Card is also highly secure, as it does not display sensitive information—no name, expiry date, or CVV — and the card number is masked. These details are available in the Salmon app and can be revealed to customers after passing multi-factor authentication.”
The Salmon Access Card is a collaboration between Sunprime Finance Inc., AUB, and MatchMove. AUB provides a robust banking infrastructure while MatchMove powers the card technology that brings the product to life.
